Rooted in the Thai tradition of "ส.ค.ส." (pronounced "Sor-Kor-Sor"), meaning "sending happiness," I began this self-initiated project as a yearly creative ritual. Inspired by playing card aesthetics, the designs evolve with meaningful themes to share appreciation with friends and mark my own creative journey.
This project draws from the Thai tradition of "ส.ค.ส.", an abbreviation for "ส่งความสุข", where people exchange cards to express good wishes and appreciation during the New Year period. It has become my yearly creative ritual to cool down at the end of the year.
I reimagined this tradition through playing card aesthetics, starting with a royal court series featuring reversible vector illustrations of a King, Queen, and Jack. Each card was designed with symmetrical elements while symbolizing important values like love, health, and strength (naturally, the COVID year emphasized health).
In 2023, I evolved the concept to incorporate the Chinese zodiac, creating a Rabbit-themed design to mark the Year of the Rabbit. I've decided to take this as a new direction for the series, which I'll continue to develop annually following the zodiac cycle, blending Thai New Year traditions with elements from Chinese astrology.
These cards serve as personal tokens of appreciation that I share with friends and collaborators throughout the year. They've also become a yearly journal that helps me sharpen my creativity and illustration skills.
